evernote-dropboxThese two great applications seem to have a lot in common. They both save information in the cloud and synchronize the information for you seamlessly on all your computers and mobile devices.

They serve very different purposes though.

Evernote is perfect if you want to easily capture ideas and things you see while you are online or out and about and access them from any computer. It is different from Dropbox in that it is

work evernoteFor business, Evernote boasts a variety of features that make it an excellent application for a work environment, including automatic synchronization between the web and your other devices, tagging and sorting features, an online client that makes it accessible from anywhere, and a search feature that can even search text stored within images. It’s great for keeping snippets of information, replacing stickies and taking down notes, and pasting research from the web into. Its unique set of features can fill a gap in your workflow.

Evernote is a very useful application that anyone interested in productivity can benefit from. Especially for work/business purposes...

Note-taking:

Take notes during meetings without transcribing, or even transferring them to other devices. Type away as others are discussing, and before you’re even back at your desk, the notes are on your desktop. 

power-user-evernoteFor those that use Evernote a lot - particularly at work - here are a bunch of useful ways that you could use Evernote. I use it to keep notes, organize documents, manage tasks, online storage and to stay productive in general.<

Tags
Give every subject, place and person a tag. People start with @, common subjects with #. Emails you find important should be forwarded to the evernote email address. You then tag them with the correct subject, people, meetings. Meeting notes should also get ID'ed and tagged. To check if all your notes are tagged correctly, regularly use a "No Tag" saved search (-tag:**) to do some housekeeping.

  1. The office cleaner: usually, by the end of the day when I zero out my email inbox and desktop, I've built up a collection of text files that I used to take down spur-of-the-moment notes. If the phone rings, I open a new text file as I answer it; if I have an idea while I'm working on something, it goes straight in a text file. It's just more clutter that's hard to find a suitable place for at the end of the day. The same goes with sticky notes that get plastered around the edges of the monitor, and even scraps of paper floating around the desk (and floor... and ceiling!). One of the best, yet simplest, uses of Evernote has been to store those day-to-day snippets of information in a more organized, less cluttered manner. Let Evernote clean your office.

Evernote can become one of your most valuable business tools if you develop habits and set up automation to save information, locate it when you need it, and share it selectively with clients or other business contacts. Because Evernote can search within PDF files, and uses OCR to search
text in images, just about anything you can get into Evernote from your computer, cell phone as text, or camera is searchable later. It's a really efficient way to store information, but even more so, to locate it later. Here are 50 ways in which Evernote can be used in the real estate business.
